I am pondering what the night before Christ’s birth might have been like. Did Mary and Joseph sleep under the stars or in the manger? Were they at peace or anxious? Did they really understand the significance of the moment? Sometimes we also stand on the cusp of change that we can’t fully grasp and even seems full of fraught. Yet Christ was still born. So also mankind is invited to be “born again.” With the presence of Christ - we advance through every trial, transition and obstacle. We become overcomers. We find ourselves standing rather that falling. We prevail. Like Mary - I am pondering my own journey while rejoicing in the birth of Jesus - even when all is not perfect or even “good”. For I am confident that what is painful now is only temporary, but His birth and His death give me cause for eternal hope. Wherever you are on the day before Christ’s birth, may you find strength and hope through the baby that was placed in a manger. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
