Brave Strong Girl, encouragement, Peace, poetry, prayer, rest, roses, Sunshine
Most of the time I find my heart leaning and longing toward something other than the moment in which I stand. I struggle to live “content in all things” while all around me are unmet needs and unfinished business.
Yet every once in a while I find myself in a moment of extraordinary peace.
Have you ever seen the sun break through the clouds in a single ray of light?
That’s how these rare and fleeting moments feel to me.
Right in the midst of what feels gray, obscure and even cloudy, a moment breaks upon my heart and I experience the most extraordinary peace.
I wrote this little poem in the midst of one of those moments. I knew it was temporary and I so wanted to capture it.
I hope you experience your own moment of breaking light and that you have the where-with-all to just pause and bask in His presence.
Sunshine and Roses
I sit in the presence of peace, contentment and trust.
It is a rare and fleeting thing.
I know it will soon pass.
I resist the temptation to grasp and claw at it.
It refuses to be captured, retained or even sustained.
Relax. Enjoy. Rest.
Here I am safe. Loved.
His acceptance falls across my shoulders like a mantle of old.
My hands open and turn toward heaven to receive free gifts.
I close my eyes and look more deeply into His mysteries.
My face lifts unhindered to seek the warmth of His gaze.
My heart contracts and releases gratitude and trust.
I have become like incense in His presence.
He is all light and I am all fragrance.
Sunshine and Roses.
